Skills BC Peace Region is a not-for-profit organization composed of volunteers representing industry, labour,Katherine Zimmerman education and government devoted to promoting and enhancing the perceived value of technical and trade skills among the youth of the Peace, Liard and Stikine regions of BC.

A team of students and teachers from the Peace Region attended the 2010 Provincial Skills Competition in Abbotsford BC on April 21, 2010. The group used funds from Parent Advisory Councils and School District Offices. Central Middle School students Cale Bedell, Dalton Haney, Lexi Querin and Clara Barkhouse competed in the JrSkills event Spaghetti Bridge. Six Secondary Students competed. Three students from South Peace Secondary School in Dawson Creek competed. Jessica Anderson competed in Carpentry(Secondary), Kyle Lafond competed in Architectural CAD(Secondary) , Katherine Finke competed in Cabinetmaking(Secondary) and was awarded a Gold Medal and the registration package for the Canadian Skills Competition in Waterloo Ontario in April 2010. Three students from North Peace Secondary and the Fort St. John area competed. Victoria Adams competed in Culinary Arts(Secondary), Katherine Zimmerman competed in Automotive Service(Secondary) and was awarded a Silver Medal, Brayden Bell competed in Welding(Secondary) and was awarded a Silver Medal. Alec Luney from the Fort Nelson area and a NLC Carpentry second year student competed in Carpentry(Post- Secondary) and enjoyed the experience. Alec was sponsored by Dorian Anderson Construction and his employer in Fort Nelson.
