Land Administration Certificate
The Land Administration program prepares graduates for opportunities in an office setting with companies in the energy, transportation, and utilities sectors. Primary tasks focus on the organization and administration of land acquisitions and records. The program prepares graduates to work closely with land agents and land managers, and to perform liaison work between government agencies, corporate offices, and other oil and gas companies.
The Land Administration program is delivered using a combination of face-to-face and distributed delivery, including online and video-conferenced course offerings.
Prerequisites
High school transcripts indicating 65% (C+) or better in Grade 11 English (NOTE: transcripts indicating B or better in English 12 are required for ENGL 110 Introduction to Workplace Communications as per the course requirements of the Land Administration program) and Grade 11 Math (Apprenticeship and Workplace 11 );
OR
65% (C+) or better in Career and College Preparations courses: English 040 Advanced English and Math 040 Advanced Algebraic Mathematics (NOTE: transcripts indicating 65% or better in English 050 Provincial English are required for ENGL 110 Introduction to Workplace Communications as per the course requirements of the Land Administration program
OR
Successful completion of the Land Administration Bridging Certificate
OR
If the above criteria are not met, or in discussion with the Land and Resource Management department representatives, the applicant may be required to complete English and Math sections of the Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT) and/or complete the Writing Assessment (WA). In this case, applicants must:
- Achieve a Grade 11.9 Level in all Math and English sections on the CAAT;
- Achieve a minimum index level on the Writing Assessment (WA) allowing entrance into English 099 Foundational Writing and subsequently meet the requirements to enter ENGL 110 Introduction to Workplace Communications as per the course requirements of the Land Administration program.
(Note: For any applicant not meeting any of the above entrance requirement options, an interview with a Land and Resource Management Department instructor will be arranged to discuss options, including entering the Land Administration Bridging Certificate or rewriting the CAAT and/or WA.)
AND
Attend an information session with a Land and Resource Management Department instructor which will include discussion of transcripts or entrance exam results, what is required to be successful in the program and what to expect in the program.
