Hairstylist/Cosmetology

A Hairstylist/Cosmetologist is trained in hair and scalp care; styling weaving and cutting; waving and relaxing hair; wigs, hairpieces and extensions; and sanitation methods. NLC’s certificate program includes learning through practical instruction and participation with equipment, tools and materials normally used in salons. Learners will quickly advance to performing services on clients in the state-of-the-art facilities at NLC’s South Peace Campus.

Admission Prerequisites

Provide transcripts indicating Grade 10 level completion that includes: Grade 10 English or Grade 11 Communications, Grade 10 Math (Applications, Essentials or Principles) and Grade 10 Science with 67 per cent (C+) or higher in all; or

Complete successfully a Trades Assessment in Reading Comprehension, Number Operations, and Problem Solving; and

Attend a mandatory orientation session.
