Cook 1/Camp Cook

Cooks work in a wide variety of settings, ranging from oil and gas work camps, to restaurants, hotels, and health care and educational institutions. Cooks prepare a host of food items, do cost and menu planning, and must be well versed in food safety and handling. Cooks often work non-standard hours and may be required to work in close quarters with other cooking and serving staff. Cooks also may work near hot ovens and grills, and may be required to lift heavy objects.

Admission Prerequisites

Provide transcripts indicating Grade 10 level completion that includes: Grade 10 English and Grade 10 Math (Applications or Principles) with 67 per cent (C+) or higher in both; or

Complete successfully a Trades Assessment in Reading Comprehension, Number Operations, Problem Solving, and Mechanical Reasoning; and

Attend a mandatory orientation session.
